Adder 2020 Overview

Landscaping jobs, like most jobs in construction, are not mass-produced, rather they are built to meet a client’s needs within the constraints of the prevailing conditions. After the design is done, the next challenge is to find the most efficient way of producing the product. At ESD our aim is to balance the need for efficient production with the demands of a competitive market without compromising the design or the environmental integrity of the landscape. To achieve this we use specialised Project Management Software called Adder©. 

Built-in quality checks

First all jobs are broken down into their sequential parts, the processes that are common to most landscape jobs. Then we use the Adder system to plan each process. Adder provides our team with a written checklist of all steps used to complete each process and includes the equipment required, the skills needed for the particular sub-tasks and “hold points”. Hold points are built in to Adder and are points where the clients need to sign off before the job can progress. This provides efficient quality control and an external check to ensure we are correctly following the design brief.

Adaptations on the fly

The neat and logical order of the data means that there is little waste of time trying to work out how the job is to be built and for how much. The budget is linked to site diary records by line Item numbers so all records are entered back into Adder and the program works out any + or – items, on the fly.

Easy access to details

Adder lets you drill down to more and more detail in processes, steps on processes, budget line items on processes and actual versus budgeted costs for each line item.

Whole company application

The goals, roles and procedures are clear. The Adder system is used across the whole company from design and planning, to execution and close. Our Team Leaders, Project Managers and Accountants have the system available over the web so all staff know where the job is at any moment in time and have access to the project’s current costs, expected future costs. as well as current and future requirements. Adder monitors the project’s performance in detail enabling quick and accurate decisions to be made where changes from the plan are required.
