Sticks and Stones Help Convert Hospital into Healthy City Living: City Quarter
Situated on the old site of the Royal Alexandra Hospital for children in Camperdown, the land was converted into city residential living with the assistance of ESD. Adjacent to the property is Orphan Creek that had to be environmentally reconstructed. A large fig was moved on site as a feature for the park.
There was extensive environmental planting, both terrestrial and aquatic, and creek line stabilisation was achieved with large recycled boulders. The land comprises a walkway, attractive seating and relaxing area and includes heritage interpretive elements about the Children’s Hospital.
