An Enormous Project Run Like Clockwork: M7 Orbital Tollway
A joint venture with ABI Group and Leighton, the M7 landscaping project was the largest landscape project ever undertaken in the Southern Hemisphere. Over 2,000 semi-mature native trees plus over a million native shrubs and grasses were planted along the new tollway.
Potentially a logistical nightmare with such a large number of plants needing to be propagated, transported, stored and planted, ESD set up a comprehensive database and tracking system especially for the project. Alongside Adder 2020, our custom software, this ensured that plants were planted in the correct place and at the right time to maximize plant survival and to work in with the vast construction of this road and its 146 bridges.
The landscaping theme, which reintroduced provenance plant species, aimed to blend the M7 corridor into the surrounding local environment to create an aesthetically pleasing experience for motorists.
